Park 4.28.09
After school yesterday we took Madi to a park just down the street from our apartment. They had the sprinkler on (Ny has permanent sprinklers in the ground and turn them on in nice weather). This sprinkler looked like a turtle shell. Madi LOVED it. She couldn't stop laughing. Another child joined her and they had a blast. Then she borrowed his tricycle and we rode around for a while (there is a parent pole behind the trike to help her move and steer since she can't peddle or steer yet). It was a fabulous afternoon.

Madi Updates 4.28.09
Madilyn has been a real joy. Granted, she has her "terrific twos" moments when she wants it her way or no way, but even then she has this spark about her and we know deep down, even when she is "challenging" us she is doing it as a way to become independent. We try to keep it all in perspective. She loves to do things, even if she can't do it yet, on her own. As parents we want to rush in and help her complete a task, yet, we want her to learn for herself, even if it means getting frustrated, because only then can she really learn.
She has been saying more words; purple, animal sounds, milk, ball, elmo, bye, to name a few. When she wants a certain song she will either name it or do the hand motions, for example she will say 'Baa Baa' for baa baa black sheep, or she will make the finger motions to Itsy bitsy spider, or the hand motions to The wheels on the bus. She is really trying to communicate. She loves interacting with people- kids at the park, other parents, friends at school, animals, strangers on the subway, etc. She likes to wave and say hi.
At The Three Abelsons Concert in Mn Madi was clapping, flailing and dancing when she saw Margo, Barry and her daddy up there singing. And when she was introduced to the guests at the concert she waved and clapped when everyone was looking at her. For pictures she poses and gives a cheesy smile. She is a ham!

Mn Passover 2009 April 8-20th
Hello all,
How can we sum up 12 days in MN? We had an amazing time. Madi saw grandparents, great grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousin Maya.
We did SO much, we had SO much fun, we made SO many new memories.
We went to parks, the Humane Society to play with animals. We had seders, lunches, dinners, the Three Abelsons Concert, we had our friends Pet Project Rescue benefit, etc.
Madilyn is 21 months old TODAY!! We can ask Madi to open a book and find objects that we ask her to find. She hates wearing shoes or socks, especially on her right foot. She has opinions galore! She is definitely assertive!!!
Here are some new pics!

Doggies...
Madilyn is now very into animals. She loves Nala and when we are out and about and sees a dog she starts talking to it or waving to it. She loves to pet them and is not scared of any size dog, big or small. We were on a walk yesterday and we were parked in front of a store window, all of a sudden she started talking as if she saw an animal. We didn't see any in sight. Then we looked in the store window and there, sure enough, was what Madi saw, a grey cat. (Some stores keep cats to keep rodents away).
Children's Museum 4.4.09
Hello all,
When the weather isn't so sunny we go to the Children's Museum. Funny story: Madi was playing on the 'bus' and a mom in front of the bus was looking thru her digital camera to delete some pics. Madi thought that because the camera was facing her and because the mom was pushing buttons that she was going to be in a picture...Madi was posing, smiling and ready to be in a photo on someone else's camera. We were hysterical...

Madilyn and her books. 4.3.09

Madilyn has many books, and she gets to know the actions that go with each book. With one book in particular there is a line that says "I like it when you hold my hand" and at this line she grabs our hand and gives a huge smile. One morning said that line, without having the book out, in fact the book was in the new bookshelf we got madi recently from LakeShore. When Steve said this line she got up and went to the bookshelf, grabbed that book, and brought it to him!!! Amazing! We also got Madi some manipulatives and fridge magnets.
Madi has been busy at daycare too, they do many many art projects and songs. They read, go on 2 walks a day and have art and music teachers come in with age appropriate activities.
More later,
The Abelsons
