Steve and I just went to Mn for a holiday vacation. I am back in NY now, because work began again Tuesday December 26, and Steve is on break from school, so he is staying a few more days.
It was so fabulous to see and spend time with family. Dinners, shopping, services, meals with cousins and friends...
Baby abelson will be so lucky to know and be a part of such a supportive family. My parents and grandparents are such strong people, they have accomploshed SO much in their lives. Baby Abelson gets to have Grandparents and Great-Grandparents that are so wonderful!

Child Care Inquiries
Yes, you all may be thinking that there is plenty of time for this...but we want to find the best child care available in NY and lists fill up quickly.
We haven't actually gone in for a tour yet, but we have called for information to the following child cares so far; Preschool of America (teaches Spanish from a young age which is great!), Mama Bear's Daycare Center, Buckle My Shoe, and Riverschool. We just basically received information on curriculum, pricing, hours, teacher: infant ratio, and at what age they begin care.
Most have said that we are starting this process early, which we knew) so tours will begin after New Year's for us and registration will begin later too!

Out shopping and I found this for Baby Abelson
Alissa and I were out on Saturday and Sunday looking around at baby stores, and I came across this great baby crib mobile. It even plays the song, "Take me out to the Ballgame"!!! How cool is that? We will for sure buy this for him/her when they are born so right from birth they will be HUGE Twins fans just like their Daddy. :)The sign Alissa made me!

December 17 we started shopping.
Steve and I are big on beginning shopping for major purchases early and doing research, not just taking people's advice and buying it for that reason. I mean we know we are having a baby, why not start looking now...Not only is it fun, it keeps the stress level down!
We went to Buy Buy Baby (AWESOME), Albee baby, and Planet kids. It was helpful to go to all of those stores because each staff member gives different information, you meet other parents in the store (we met a very nice and helpful couple), you can compare prices, and you see many different products that the other stores may not carry.
We LOVED Buy Buy Baby with a passion. It was huge, had many products, and a knowledgeable and calm staff who spent a lot of time with us. We were helped by a man named Steve from St. Louis Park (YAY).
We have many ideas now. Stroller shopping in NY is like car shopping in MN, because of all of the walking we do here. You need a semi-light stroller with durable wheels for all the miles of walking. Also, we have little things called Subways here, which have stairs, so we need a stroller that can be carried easily up or down the Subway stairs and that will fit with ALL the people in the Subway, which isn't easy without a stroller!
Well, it was a productive day, and now we have many ideas/options to think about.

December 15th
We went to get Sonogram done today by a nurse named Sonia. She did a whole host of sonogram pictures to measure the size of my Uterus, the baby, the heartbeat, and so on, with an internal and external sonogram. West Side Radiology gave the information from this visit with the pictures to Dr. Aaron so she could be sure that all is well with the baby.
I shed some tears as I really sat and thought about what I was seeing on the screen; a little baby, 0.9CM, almost 7 weeks. Sonograms made the whole process real at this point since I am not showing and I cannot feel anything. So, to see the flicker of light as the sonogram showed the beating heart was so beautiful and made this a very real experience for both of us.

Thursday December 14th
On Friday December 14th Steve and I went to see Dr. Gila Aaron. The first appointment was long, they did many blood tests; Tay-Sachs because we are Jewish, HIV because it is NY State law, and other tests as well. Dr. Aaron does not do the sonogram, but she was able to do a basic one just so we can see how the baby was growing. It was so amazing to see a small life already growing at 6 weeks 5 days, and it was a good surprise because we didn't think we would be able to see anything until December 15th at the sonogram appointment.
Dr. Aaron answered all of our questions and we set up our next appointment for January 26th.
Steve was a great partner; he brought his camera, had all of his questions. He is very supportive and is an active part of this whole process.

We're Pregnant
Monday November 27, 2AM and 6AM.
I decided to take the Pregnancy test when I woke up in the middle of the night on the 27th. Steve knew I was going to take it soon, but didn't know exactly when. I was shaking and excited; I was about to take a pregnancy test, it was so exciting. In the next few minutes I would know if Steve and I were going to be parents, as well as husband and wife!!
Once taken, the test came back positive right away! I decided to take a second test, a different brand,at 6AM to be sure. And that one was positive too! I was nervous (in a positive way), so I decided to take 2 tests just in case! Silly right?
I wanted to think of a great way to tell Steve. I always thought about if I would want him with me when I tested or if I wanted to do it alone so I could break the news to him in a special way. I decided on the latter; a little surprise, even when pregnancy is planned, is always fun, right?
I took the 2 positive tests, took a piece of paper and taped the 2 tests to the paper and wrote "Steve, husband, son, grandson, brother, nephew, and now...Daddy!" I held it up to him when he woke up in the morning and let it sink in! We were going to be parents, we were both so excited and stared at the tests, and started talking about everything!
