Madilyn's new toddler bed. First Night 5.19.10

Madilyn had her first night in her toddler bed last night. She went right to bed at 730 or so, slept the night, and woke up at 6am!!

When she first saw the bed she was very excited, jumping, playing in it, moving the pillow around (we got her a very thin, hypoallergenic, child's pillow which she enjoyed!)

We are SO proud of her.

Funny....

So every morning after I drop Madi off at school I walk down the 4 flights of stairs and go outside. Madi waits for me by her classroom window (4 flights above ground). She looks down and waits for me to cross the street and wave to her. One day, 30 minutes after I left, Madi told the teachers she wanted to wave goodbye to Daddy from the window. They explained that he wasn't there, but then they traced her hand on the paper and wrote what she said "wave goodbye to daddy from window". So sweet!

I wore a new watch yesterday, the one Steve and Madilyn got me for mother's day, and Madi noticed that it was new. Funny and observant.

Madi doesn't like when I wear tank tops, whenever I wear one she says "I don't like that shirt"

Whenever we whisper or talk softly while reading or singing she says "Talk louder"

Mother's Day 2010

Madi must have learned a mother's day song at school, to the tune of BINGO, because she was trying to sing it at home. She did it well enough that I could tell what she was trying to sing. It was so sweet..."Mommy is her name, M-O-M-M-Y".
We had a great Mother's Day weekend!

Echo 5.6.10

Madilyn's teacher, Ms. Maribel, says that Madi has been more talkative in school (previously she was quiet in school but VERY talkative at home). She has started to echo what the teachers say. She guides the children to do what the teachers asked that child to do with a nice pat on the back!

Hardware Store 5.4.10

Madi walked into a hardware store yesterday on our way to the bus. She stayed for 20 minutes; cleaned with the broom and made a toy out of just about everything in there. It is amazing the stories she can make up with random objects in a store, and what can hold her attention.

Madi 5.3.2010

We said "Today is Friday, what day is tomorrow?" Madi said "Swimming day"

Madi went in swim class by herself, without Alissa. Alissa didn't even go in this time at all. Last week Alissa went in for half the class.

Madi continues to amaze us with the ideas she connects and what she correlates. She can finish sentences of multiple stories that we have just introduced to her. She picks up on everything and is very friendly. We love to see her talk to people on the street or in the park.

She loves animals and is very respectful and speaks to the animals very softly and as if they undertsand her. Aunt Joanne was in town this past weekend and we took Madi to Art Farm in the City on the E. Side. She said for 2 hours petting bunnies, geckos, lizards, Guinea pigs, a tortoise, a baby chick, and a chinchilla. Then we went to the park and Madi got to walk a few dogs.
